Young Parent Program & Mommy Shoppe
The teen parent program provides at-risk and low income teen parents with counseling, parenting classes and guidance in completing high school, continuing on to college, finding jobs, and becoming successful parents. There are field trips, park days, quarterly fun activities, and an on-site play area where moms and their little ones can gather each week. The success of this program can be measured in the lives of those who have completed it. Many have become responsible parents, either in school preparing for a future career or already working members of the community, thus increasing the number of gainfully employed teen parents and reducing the number relying on public assistance. Additionally, many of the moms are now married to their baby’s fathers and have begun building a meaningful life together as a family.
Mommy Shoppe
The Mommy Shoppe is a fully stocked store in which we provide for teen parents to shop for their child. “Mommy Bucks” are the only currency used to make purchases in the Mommy Shoppe. These bucks are earned through participation in Teen Parent activities (listed above), and through school attendance, employment, wellness checkups for baby, immunizations, reading to their child and more. The Mommy Shoppe offers baby supplies, such as activity or play centers, bassinets, bibs, blankets, bouncy seats, carriers, car seats, changing tables, clothes (new and gently used), cribs, diaper bags, diapers, wipes, formula, high chairs, shoes, socks, jackets, gloves, strollers, swings and more.
Events & Classes
Once a QUARTER we hold a fun event for mommies, babies, and baby dad’s. We have park days, parenting related classes with a wide range of guest speakers, family photo shoots, Gymnastics and more.
